I misunderstood or rather, i was confused with the whole "genre" thing. To me punk is punk. So the thread has listed many good punk bands of recent perhaps try some old punk too like:
Eater
Alien Sex Fiend (The earlier albums)
Wire (Pink Flag)
Slaughter and The Dogs
The Cramps
American Hardcore Comp (for starters)
Old Thraher magazine skaterock comps (also for starters)
and I have faith that you can fill in your own blanks after that. Yowsa...

For Irish, the Pogues. For English, The Clash / Sex Pistols / Nipple Erectors. For American, Voidoids / Stooges / Cramps / Gun Club.

SBWNik 06-11-2010 06:31 AM

If we're talking 'Irish punk bands that have feck all to do with ireland (Pogues, Molly, Murphies etc) then include The Skels.
If you mean Irish as in 'actually from Ireland' then only two bands - Stiff Little Fingers and The Undertones, though The Undertones lost the plot pretty quickly.

If you're looking for good punk, then I'd say that 90% of whats mentioned on this thread - ignore Velvet Underground, you'll not like them - would be good advice.

I don't have a problem with every single thread in the punk forum being bumped but the thread starter hasn't been back in 2 years.

Use a little common sense bumping this stuff.
