Sex Pistols ARE pub-rock for the most part Quote:
Just two examples the rest of your list was pretty solid. Quote:

I suppose, I'm so into punk though that I can tell minute differences and feel like The Jam are completely different than the Sex Pistols, much poppier I find. I surprised you know The Dogmatics, they're pretty unknown. My dad worked with one of the twins. I find 'Thayer St. one of the best songs of the 80's. Come to think of it they do sound alot like the Clash, but not in the sense that they're ripping them off or anything like some bands *cough*Rancid*cough*. |
I used to love Rancid.

...And Out Come the Wolves is great.

Rancid aren't original, and they're trying too hard to be punk.
And yes, The Clash were much more passionate and authentic than Rancid can ever hope to be. Why have a silly ripoff band, just because they're modern, when you can have the real thing? |

By the way, Did some newer band cover Rock the Casbah because I heard a different version a couple times and it is in my opinion very different from the original. Edit: I found it, Green Day covered it. Wow, they are about as punk as Motley Crue, haha |
