The term angry was geared more towards the metal part of that comment, but I just can't get into that "punk state of mind," i guess. The whole "fight the man," "do what i want" mentality. It's just not for me. I'm not hating on punk though, I definitely see it's appeal. It just doesn't appeal to me.

You can still have an appreciation for music and not like certain genres. I appreciate music, and music is a huge part of my life. But I don't like punk. I don't think it's very good. It's a total matter of opinion.

The older I get the more I realize that every genre has their fair share of crap, and excellence. Even country, which is frequently hated on, if you know where to find it, there's some great music. Personally, there are genres that I don't listen to, but I'll never say that they're bad, because for all I know I could pick up 'Kind of Blue' in a year and a half, and all of a sudden jazz could click for me.
Never dismiss an entire genre, chances are, you're just going to miss out on great stuff. |

Yes but the people that make gangster rap DO take it seriously. It's not Weird Al out there making those songs about killing people and doing illegal narcotics, it's real people that have a real influence on society (Thanks MTV!).
