punk-o-rama....punk anymore?
who agrees with me that the punk-o-rama is starting to not be punk anymore? i bought vol. 8 and it kinda sucked because of some of the emo. and suprisingly, i listened and there was rap on the cd . i bought vol. 9 hoping it will be better than the last one, and there was even more emo and still rap. i can see that some of that rap has a message to it that relates to most punk rock. but it isn't punk. its supposed to be "punk"-o-rama. and all of that emo is boring. who agrees with me that pun-o-rama is starting to suck?

Punk-o-Rama has baisically sucked sense #5 in my eyes. I personally think epitaph has transoformed into one of the crappiest music labels out there. They havn't put out anything special in a looong time. No one gets excited for any of there releases, and they continue to sign more and more terrible bands. The only good thing I see about epitaph is the Hell-cat subsidary, which I can only hope will break off and be produced and distrubtued through rancid records. Epitaph has just devolved to total garbage and i don't think you'll be seeing another good Punk-o-Rama for a long time. But I suppose thats just my opinion.

Punk-o-rama started out punk, but it has taken a road many artists take...changing style to make more money...i like the new stuff...but i was also surprised when i heard atmosphere and from first to last on there.

punk o rama has always been predominantly epitaph bands, which hasnt had too many good signings as of the past five or so years. but face it, no new punk compilations are ever that good. for 4 bucks or less, punk or rama is good for people who know nothing about music and are willing to learn.

The new hopeless wasnt too bad. The main point Im trying to get across is that punk is swampped by loads of mediocre at best compalations. If I ever hear anything as good as flex your head, let them eat jellybeans, or this is boston not LA then I will be exstatic. But I really dont see that happening anytime soon. Lavels rather put out a sub par comp with sub par extras than a good one with no extras.
