London Calling, although The Clash is a fantastic record as well. London Calling is a classic though, so it gets my vote.

I liked their first album, mind you I also like London Calling, but their self titled album debut was just awesome

I love all their stuff apart from Give 'Em Enough Rope (mediocre) and Cut the Crap (Urban Hatemonger got it spot on).
The Clash is perhaps their best collection of songs London Calling is them at the overall height of their powers Sandinista! is perhaps their most impressive statement - for all the terrible ****e on their I think it's two thirds magnificent, and ranks as one of the great albums Combat Rock manages to successfully combine the band's twin ambitions of becoming more commercially successful (and writing songs that people would play on the jukebox thirty years later) whilst still doing stuff that no other band with their sales would have the guts to do. |
I love The Clash, they were my fave band to come out of the punk/new wave invasion from Britain. I got to see them live the year they released Combat Rock, great concert but they played in the ****tiest possible venue here. About 40 people had to be rushed to the hospital for heat prostration and a dozen more were trampled when the hard core fans rushed the stage, Joe Strummer actually stopped the show to tell the fans to F**K Off!,,, and back away from the stage.
1-London Calling 2-Sandanista 3-The Clash |
It's really a tossup for me between their first album and London Calling. They're both great and worth equal respect for what they were and did musically. I think Sandinista is underrated but it takes a Clash fan to enjoy it as it definitely bogs down at times.
