You realize that list you just quoted came from the '10 best metal bands' thread, don't you?
Yes , but so far i've only see you have anything good to say about metal bands in any of your posts, so pardon me if I put 2 & 2 together & get 4.

Why are the bands I listen to 'bad' (or whatever word you want to use)?
I don't actually listen to much metal but from what i've seen posted on here by people who are the ones you listed don't seem to be rated that highly. And as for the ones I have heard on that list , well. Pantera are nothing more than a hair metal band in denial and the less said about Rob Zombie the better.

I AT LEAST gave a reasoned out explaination as to why pop blows, or pop-punk rather.Or maybe it was just the Ramones and I'm thinking of the other thread. But at any rate, I didn't just declare that the ramones are lame, I gave a reason.
Did you? Where? Oh yeah the elevator music comment. Well that was a reasoned & detailed explanation. Shame you also failed to mention regardless of whether you like the music or not The Ramones influenced bands as wide ranging as The Clash to Sonic Youth to Motorhead. I think those bands are a bit more culturally important than some no mark metal bands.

The bands I listen to, hell just Oomph alone, covers a large span of emotions and meanings through out thier songs, everything from anger, confusion, religion, depression, death, politics, love, sex, drugs, money (there is actually a cool song by the band Gravity Kills called 'Love Sex and Money'). Oomph alone also offers a lot of different styles and crossover genres.
Good for them , shame they couldn't find a decent name for the band too. Love Sex and Money eh? bet you'd be hard pressed to find songs about those 3 topics.

it's a trivial way of describing music. anyone who actually likes punk for the music shouldn't be at all interested in whether "pop punk" is an oxymoron, it is such a redundant and stupid thing to waste energy arguing on, especially when there are more important things to consider such as developing more renewable energy sources and saving the whales.

Save the whales huh? So you don't care that American pop culture is a commercial wasteland that's breeding rampant hedonism and apathy toward socio-political issues that will one day, if left unchecked, cause the complete destruction of the middle class? Just trivial nonsense?

It doesn't matter at all that pop music perpetuates sheep-herd mentallity and promotes corporate exploitation that drives capitalitic greed and the gradual annihilation of our artistic values in favor of mindless materialism and conformity?

Pop-punk is that groundbreaking?

sleepy jack 03-31-2008 09:00 PM

Seriously, stop stringing together useless adjectives unconnected to pop-punk which you obviously know nothing about. It's ridiculous, you listen to shitty metal so why troll the punk and pop forums when you can cry over Dimebags deservedly shot corpse instead?
