Their music being lame was cool and insipring to the clash and countless other bands, musicly they were not that good but lyricly they or John Lydon was brillant. Style well...i don't know what to say about that

I hate them, and I don't think I'm going to far. I don't give a rat's ass if they were influential. Their music still sucked, in my opinion.
Don't mind if you like them though. Everyone has a different taste.

No, I mean, when bands like Simple Plan and Good Charlotte started coming out, people were stating (correctly) "that's not punk!" so the executives needed a band to represent "true punk" for the elite market. But wait! "punk is dead"!! We need to find a band that was around then! so they go and dig "Johnny Rotten" out from whatever hole he had retreated to, and got them to reform.
