Everybody, that is, except for me and kat you're saying.

And I hardly see MTV airplay as a respectable way of judging music. I wasn't force fed their music, considering I hate MTV and never watch it, but that hasn't stopped me from liking Green Day. Heck, I don't even indulge in their music that much. But they're good at what they do.

Feel free to respond with another edgy, witty, and insightful comment, Urban Hatemonger.

Going out on a limb and voting for GG Allin, since he's really cool. In a messed up way of course.

... but we all know that Johnny Rotten is probably one of the best known and he really helped with popularizing punk music for the most part!

Kind of a tough choice with some of those. Had to go for Strummer though.

My personal favorite will always be The Baron von Aphid from Amebix. Those guys had a huge hand in creating my favorite type of punk (crust) and they really lived that ****. I have a lot of respect for the more well known hardcore acts, but crust and d-beat will always be the upper echelons of punk in my book.

No gods, no masters!

Strummer takes it for me. Iggy Pop's a close second though.

Traditional punk is dead, but it seems to have spawned things like:
"flower punk" "garage punk" and "folk punk"
all of which have spawned fairly successful bands presently.
