I like Television, but I think Marquee Moon's a bit overrated as an album - kinda tails off after Elevation.

Aww... I like Guiding Light quite a bit...

and Robert Quine is fantastic, as someone mentioned.

What about the follow up to Marquee Moon, Adventure? It's a different sound... much softer (for lack of a better description)

I still like it a lot... and I agree the guitar work made them something out of the "punk" norm. Still good tunes though!

Agreed. And "Torn Curtain" is one of my favorite songs on the album.

Adventure is a decent album, Marquee Moon stomps it though.

I love certain songs off of it, Venus, Friction, See No Evil, Elevation, Marquee Moon... but all too often my mind wanders. Its an album i enjoy in small doses.

This may be a total noob question, but what exactly does it mean to be a "Jam-Band", because it isn't something I have really associated with anything I've listened to other than a MinuteFlag EP my dad has.

Marquee Moon is definitely an amazing album. Every song is great. Little Johnny Jewel is my fave

I was about to ask...does anyone like their other album(s)? Personally I've only ever heard Marquee Moon, and I like it quite a bit. I noticed this thread at the end of last week and decided to play it again yesterday when I went for a walk. I think it grows on me with each listen, great stuff. So it got me wondering about their other stuff. I know MM is regarded as their best but I'm wondering if I'd like Adventure.

I've been listening to Marquee Moon a lot these past couple of days. It's definitely an album that you probably wouldn't be in the mood for regularly, but when the mood comes, it hits like a knee to the balls. I'm still blown away by the guitar work of Tom and Richard, and what impresses me even more about it is how little effects they used if any at all. It annoys me that this band isn't as well known as it's peers such as Blondie, Ramones, Patti Smith, ect ect. Sure they only made 1 great album, but that album was post-punk before there was post punk, pre-post-punk? Adventure was a good follow up album but it comes no where near Moon, and the band can't be blamed for that, Moon was just to high to top. I love how the epic title track seems to come to an end then you here that bass line again and you know youre in for some more poetry coming out of not only Tom' mouth but Richard and Tom's entangled guitars. Are any of Tom or Richards solo work worth a listen?

Marquee Moon wants me to start playing guitar, it has some of the most melodic guitar solos I have ever heard plus their guitar tones are so clean. Easily one of my favorite albums of all time.
