I heard it. It might actually be better than Searching. The lyrics give me the idea that they haven't sold out, because half of the songs are about how they haven't sold out. Musically its just plain punk. There's no folk or experimental elements to it, which is disappointing.
I'm not sure if its good enough for me to lay down $12 for it.

Yeah, but sometimes I like to support bands. Esepcially ones I really love like Against Me! Of course I don't know how much I love Against Me! anymore and I don't know how much of my money will go to them vs how much will go to the corporate pigs at Sire.

Against Me! have long been my favourite band, with 'Pints of Guiness' the most rousing song of them all. Shamefully, I haven't listened to New Wave yet but - but thanks to this thread - I'll get on it!
I was reading an article a while ago previewing the new album and was surprised with how much abuse Against Me! were attracting in the comments from fans pissed off (to say the least - I would probably say foaming incontrollably from the brain like rabid marmosets) that they have discarded their anarchic roots and are turning too commercial.... Does anyone here have an opinion on this?

I would say they have gotten pretty commercial, but I think its sad how the fans treat them. I was on their myspace and half of the comments were from "fans" giving them **** for selling out.

Well when you write lyrics about musical ethics and morals and then go and "sell out" you kind of have it coming. Acoustic EP is one of my favorite releases ever.

I wasn't dissapointed by New Wave because I already had extremely low expectations for it.
Like I just posted in the folk punk thread: New Wave> Searching for a Former Clarity You could already tell on SFAFC that Against Me! was jaded by the music scene. It was depressing as ****. Against Me! doesn't deserve the flak they're catching for signing to Sire. I'm certainly not happy with it, but I could never disrespect the band that gave me Crime, Reinventing Axl Rose, and the Acoustic EP.

We all know that once in your life you have listened to Green Day. Just because of the constant repeat of their videos on MTV and the Radio, you changed your "OMFG Green day Special" I give them much respect for what they have done in the past. It is an honor to open up for a band that has come so far. You can go two ways in life sell yourself for the money or live in mediocrity. I prefer the mediocrity, but that's not for everyone.
