See the Sex Pistols on the "Bill Grundy Show". It was their 1st appearance on UK tv and there was a public outcry when they swore live on tv. Grundy was sacked and the rest is history.

Around 1978 my best friends brother used to lock us in the garden shed and play us stuff by Buzz****s, Blondie and the Pistols. Too young to understand it or appreciate it but it peaked my interest enough to look into it more in the early 80's. Opened up a whole new world of everything from the Cramps and Dead Kennedys to Magazine, Joy Division and the Cure...

I don't know if the Ramones were first or not, but I was probably 15 or 16 when the Sex Pistols showed up in the US. It just sounded like a mess to me, so I didn't really pay all that much attention to it back then. Still don't.
That's not knocking it. It's just not my thing.

My intro to "real" punk were The Clash and Ramones....After hearing I wanna Be Sedated from the Ramones I was instantly hooked I went out and bought 2 albums, I don't regret it. The first Clash album I bought was there Combat Rock album I bought it at a used record shop for $4.

THE EXPLOITED in late 80's. Still have a soft spot for them, even though they are not a great punk band.
