its either punk rock or its straight up rock and pop. punk rock can be catchy, but it can't be watered down. i think pop-punk is an oxymoron, and that Simple Plan is a pop band, and Alkaline Trio are Punk rock.

Pop-punk=/=mainstream "punk"
This may be misleading, because pop normally stands for popular, but its just a name. I'm not particularly fond of it, but its what most people refer to the hundreds of bands trying to sound like the Ramones as. Bands like good charlotte, blink-182, and simple plan aren't pop-punk because they aren't punk. Pop-rock is a better classification for that ****. How many bands on this comp are mainstream? I don't think any. Of course, I can't say how many of them are "trying to make it mainstream" but I would suspect not many. I'll admit I'm no punk expert, though. As for the comp itself, I like pop-punk, but I don't listen to it a whole lot, so I don't know many of the bands. Teenage Bottlerocket is the only thing my state has to be proud of since the Lillingtons broke up. I'll try to download this comp when my internet stops acting ****ty. |
