Wire needs a bump. Over the past month I've been listening to their first four albums almost obsessively. In all sincerity, they're better than 95% of every other band/artist I listen to, they're just superb

At a push, I'd say 154 is my favourite at the moment, but it changes amongst the first three frequently.

I think it's about time to listen to those first three records again - happens at least once every few months. One of the best bands ever.

I'm in a somewhat similar situation. Actually... I recently revisited 154, and it's ****ing fantastic. I love the overall atmospheric/psychedelic feel of the album, and there are even some elements of baroque pop in it... which was a bit astonishing considering it's a post-punk album.

Dare I say... I prefer it over Joy Division's debut.

I love this band so much. Chairs Missing is my favourite.

Interesting, I've never thought about it, but it's definitely up there with Unknown Pleasures, as are the other two.

Another bump. What a great ****ing band! I'm trying to get the physical copies of Chairs Missing and 154 and for whatever reason, they're fairly expensive. They must not be printed excessively or something...either way I'll get my hands on the physical copies eventually. Pink Flag is still incredible.

Random question, what album do you guys prefer, Pink Flag or Minutemen's 'Double Nickels on the Dime'?

Double Nickels, any day of the week. Minutemen are my ****ing jam, much respect. Honest, real lyrics. Amazing musicianship. No pretense. ****ing love Minutemen.

On topic: Not a huge Wire fan but I do still listen to Chairs Missing and Pink Flag from time to time.

It's all about 154. Pink Flag is probably my fourth favourite actually. Very good album though. And I probably prefer it to Double Nickels, but it's been ages since I listened to that. Something which should be corrected.

I don't know why, but I basically neglected most of Wire's output post-154. Just listened to this beauty of an album today:

It's actually great! On first listen, at least an 8/10. I'm going to have to dive deeper into their other stuff. Color me really surprised because I was under the impression that they did nothing truly worthwhile after their first three, but it just aint true.
