I think Straight Edge has become increasingly stupid over the years, but the original XXXer's were cool. White Lies just reminded me of how much I can't stand Fear. Bunch of aholes. Livin' In The City and F8ck Christmas are good songs though.

dude, Minor threat were awesome. they started the main trend of positivity in Punk and Hardcore. i got their first Demo tape. its better than the other recordings. i dunno why they didn't release it. and their lyrics are basically all about my life. i don't do drugs or drink, but walking about with a big black X on your hand proclaiming it to everybody seems a bit over the top.

Bane's Wasted On The Young is about kids who proclaim edge too early in life before they've experienced anything. At the age I'm going to assume you're at, (early to middle teens) you haven't been exposed to anything except cigerettes and maybe weed. Both of which are easy to pass on because most people won't offer up hard earned grass. But I'm going to assume that you haven't been exposed to house parties, college life, or drinking at all for that matter. Thus, to call yourself edge this early in life I feel is very rash, drastic, and immature. I'm not bumming on you though, because I did the same thing up till my first cigerrette. I still don't drink though, in fact I just came back from a party as the only sober man, and it was fine. Just don't call yourself edge until you've had some experiences.

i wasn't saying i'm straight edge. just saying i've seen people **** their lives with smoking and drinking ****. and yeah, i'm 14, so "young" is correct. i'm not proclaiming it. just saying i admire the lifestyle. and Bane is awesome. especially "Ante Up". i know their big thing they're against is people who mess up the scene by being insincere. that was Ian Mcaye's stance. after all the bull**** i've been through i'm pretty sure i'm sincere.

Dude I've got experience on everything drugs and alcohol and i'm only 16. I do consider myself straight edge just because all of that stuff is a disgrace and is a horrable habit i've seen my friends screw up their lives because of it and even on one occasion got killed drinking alcohol. That could've easily been me, after seeing those sights I just avoid and not bother with any of it.

And then I realized... like I was shot... like I was shot with a diamond... a diamond bullet right through my forehead. And I thought: My God... the genius of that.

Well it pretty much went hand-in-hand with his other statement, so there was a need.
I don't much care for straight-edge either.
If you believe in that to better yourself, then what need is there to label it?

Quoted for truth. Even when I didn't smoke I still never called myself edge, because that isn't a big part of my life that I felt people should recognize, and it still isn't.
