Default Getaway

Getaway was supposedly said to be some kind of melodic hardcore band. For all normal music listeners, more so fans of Getaway/Matchbook Romance they are a pop/punk or punk rock band and a little post hardcore.

The band is from New York and started in 1997 with Ryan Kienle as bassist, Andrew Jordan as vocalist/guitarist along with Ryan Depaolo guitar/vocals as well; and Aaron Stern on drums. Aaron Stern and Ryan Depaolo were in a band before making there way to Matchbook Romance.

The band really wanted susses and new the way to gain attention and form a fan base. The Internet was there friend, when they decided to design there own website to get there music out there. The unsigned band was gaining a real fan base by letting people download there songs over www.mp3.com.

The band was later heard by someone with power, and soon enough the boys were in California signing a record deal. While in California the boys decided to change there bands name to Matchbook Romance; rumoured to be for legal reasons.

Before the band new it they were getting ready to make there EP ‘West for Wishing'. Not long after the band was going on tour. In April 2003 there full-length album ‘Stories and Alibis', along with there Ep came to stores. The band went on tour with other bigger and more heard of bands. Matchbook Romance and Motion City Soundtrack then did a spilt together on the then soon to be album ‘Voices' which has gained much susses.
