I never really liked The Germs

Germs are absolutly amazing for different reasons than posted:

The germs are amazing because they played the music to express the emotion that was being felt. They were expressing the internal suicide of heroin, and living the life of a broken-hearted junkie. On the part of the music, their sound is equal to bands like Black Flag, and Minor threat. If this post is saying that the Germs are the worst punk band ever, that only implies that that entire generation of True, underground punk rock is complete ****. The point is, that The Germs started a wave of punk rock that said a big "**** You" to corporate rock, and brought on the Chaotic punk rock known today. The Germs were kicked out and banned from every venue in california for years because the punk scene had never seen/heard anything like it. If the author of this post thinks that the germs are the worst punk band ever, i suggest listening to the real core punk bands: Reagan Youth, MDC, Jerry's Kids, Wasted Youth, Black Flag, Bad Brains, etc.

I promise you will find that The Germs have really influenced all of these bands in some way.

read my post on this topic. It will explain why The Germs are an amazing band and such.

If you don't like the germs, you have no business in punk, rock or music in general. When you can understand that it's about what you put into the music, not how polished or virtuoso the songs are, then you'll understand the punk ethos.

if you disagree **** you. you have no taste in music.

Since when is a rock and roll singer supposed to be a "role model?"

Since never, Einstein.

Some of their stuff verges on unlistenable, probably intentionally. Others of it I like.

So fook off.

(GI), their main album is good. Had a few memories of some parties that blasted it out. I can understand why some of the LA scene took them to heart at the time, and the book Lexicon Devil is a great way to start understanding why they mattered, at least to a section of the Late 70's LA Punk scene.

No Biopic can ever explain, period. There's a lot of footage around that has a lot of shambolic performances that seriously say "You had to be there." The closest I got was via VHS and the rentals of The Decline of Western Civilization back when I was hanging out with Hardcore Punk friends in the Mid-Late 80's, so I kind of connected with what was happening on screen, but not fully. Those new should only read the book and catch a few vintage clips to see if this is a band to hear more of.

There's a lot of venom in their music. In my opinion, there are better bands when it comes to the records, but in a way, they are still a good chapter in Punk history.

I don't listen to much punk rock, but the Germs are one of the few bands I do like.

I think they are pretty rad.

(GI) is a punk classic. Period. They didn't actually release another album, at least not in their pomp. I don't understand the negativity around them, really.

A movie was made about them, thus they are cool to hate.

Ah bollocks to that, they were great.
