I agree. They're decent, but not too great. Best "newer" punk band I would say is Against Me!, but I haven't been listening to much punk lately. I don't find many of the newer punk bands coming out to be that interesting.
If you like Rise Against you should check out 88 Fingers Louie. Its the band a couple of the orginal Rise Against members were in before they started Rise Against. I think I like them better than Rise Against, but their songs all sound pretty similar.

There are too many differences in sub-genres these day's it would be hard to determine the "best" punk band.

yeah, i heard 88 fingers louie. and i still prefer Rise Against. 88 is pretty good, except the songs sound similar and i can't hear the damn singer. but the riffs aren't bad.

hey, Ignite are awesome!!! similar to Rise Against and i even saw a video of Tim doing a guest vocal with them. they truly rock. i just saw a piece of news that as soon as Rise Against get off their summer-long tour (on which i will see them!) they'll start working on a new album. i hope it has more of their faster, less produced songs. Tim's voice works great for that because most singers just sorta mumble through. i didn't like Ready To fall because it was slow and overproduced. and maybe Rise Against will do what sick of it all did (when i was just a baby): go on a major, release 2 classic albums and expand their fanbase, then return to indie and continue to rock. seems like it would work for Rise Against. oh yeah, and it worked for Bad Religion (also when i was learning to walk) peace.
