Idealogically they represented that if you sell out enough then you will make lots of money but will have no soul. Musically, the same thing, just change your music to suit everyone else and you will be rich.

Original sub culture? You mean the first sub genre/division of punk? I don't know, punk hardcore was in the mid 80's but if there was one before that then my answer is crap.
