i'd have though the first wave of pop punk was by bands like the Buzzcocks, The Adicts, etc.

Green Day are modern rock nowadays.

ok so what about blink? along the same line as green day or classed as alternative up until the release of there self titled album?

They're a pop band, they lost their punkness after enema of the state.

greenday used to be really good back in the day. blink was one of the bands that got me listening to punk. best pop punk band is the descendents
