The best punk bass
I have an american series fender jazz bass and i used to own an ibanez... i was just looking for an opinion on the tone of fender jazzes for punk music, or should i go with a fender precision.. and what are your thoughts on ampegs? feel free to suggest another brand besides fender,by the way.:hphones: :usehead:  : :jailed:

Ok, I'm going to pretend that this thread is about the best Punk bassist and then I'll ask "Do Joy Division count?" and you'll say "Well, their albums are closer to Post-Punk, but their earlier stuff as Warsaw is definitely Punk." and then I'll say "Well in that case, Peter Hook."

Mike Watt - and whatever bass he plays

i do like mike dirnts fender. what do you think of ampegs?
|
i suggest using ESP, my bassist uses ESP and the sound is amazing
|
esp is pretty good, id have to agree on that one. mike d. from killswitch plays one of those. but i dont think hes that good of a bassist. mainly just playing open d, and whatever the guitarists play.

Although JJ Burnell of 'The Stranglers' takes some beating. |
Peter Hook is one of the best bass players ever not just in 'punk'
|
^ so is Mike Watt.
|
well since were not talking about just 'punk' i'd have to give stu hamm my vote for one of the best bassists in the world, but the bassist for the used is pretty good too.
|
Well if we arent talking just punk, id have to say Les Claypool.
In terms of punk bassists hmmm not to sure..... John Richie (Sid Vicious) maybe :P |
Mike Watt.
Erm that's what eq's are for and distortion pads and maybe you should do something that isnt stereotypically punk, much better to have your own unique sound. |
no the best punk bassist is by far Chris #2 from anti-flag
|
the bassist from coheed and cambria, is definetly a good bass player too, but he's not really "punk" either
