Help?
Can someone please tell me why, some people say that 'punk is dead.'??????
|
because its being marketed. many people believe that true punk was the underground movement of the 80's and early 90s. these days with bands such as good charlotte and blink and avril too its too mainstream and some people say that its lost the rebelliousness that made it "punk".

to an extent yes. but it used to be that basically the whole scene was an underground movement. especially compared to today
|
yea the actual movement of punk is dead. because punk is grounded now and its all here and spreading. the music "punk" is definitaly not dead though.
|
thanks guys

i totally agree. i think that people say that punk is dead because the movement is over. they say punk is dead because mainstream bands like newfound glory and story of the year are being sold as punk. as long as people still listen to bands like dk and the descendents (which, contrary to common belief, actually originally formed in '79) then the meaning of punk rock wont die

there are still hundereds and hundereds of underground punk and (good) hardcore shows every year. these local shows are what its about. all ages, like 5 bucks a head, and a great place where people can hang out and listen to amazing music.
but people would rather pay 40 bucks to go to some **** concert and watch a band suck on a huge stage. |
