how has the style of those who listen to punk genre changed from the 1970s?

its split into so many subgenres now so it kinda depends on what type of punk you are refering to...

there are still bands that are stuck playing the old school uk sound, theres the pop stuff of the radio friendly bands, grind for old school metal heads, posi punk for the hippies, etc. etc. etc.

70s and early 80s, i dont really bother with anything beyond that

My friend said to me the other day, that they liked Punk. Naturally, I enquired what bands. If your a die hard Punk fan, cover your eyes now and close this window. They said to me
`Oh yeah, I like Blink 182, Hawthorne Heights, Falloutboy, y'know those kindda things.`
`And this is Punk?`
`Yeah.`
Okay ... this is what's happened to the delusional minds of people who claim this is Punk, I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but Punk is Sex Pistols, The Clash ect ... dear gawd.
