Default Rocket From The Tombs

This band gets very little recognition, despite the fact that in '75, when The Ramones were becoming the "first punk band" they were already playing what became Dead Boys punk classics such as "What Love Is" and "Sonic Reducer."

Composed originally of David Thomas and Peter Laughner of Pere Ubu fame (sort of) the band had a constantly shifting line-up that included Stiv Bators as well as various other Dead Boys members. After they finally did split, the band members went on to form the Dead Boys and Pere Ubu, two highly influential bands.

Comments, anyone? Basically the only recorded record they left behind is compiled in a disc called "The Day the Earth Met The Rocket From The Tombs" which features extremely low-quality live material, but is still great historical documentation of one of the most influential and overlooked proto-punk bands, and a disc called "Rocket Redux" which is basically live material from a reunion show. Also good, but it lacks the significance and raw energy of the original recordings. Also, Stiv Bators is dead, so David Thomas does all the vocals, not that that's necessarily a bad thing, but it does make all the songs sound very much like Pere Ubu songs.

Great band, it's LOL that no one posted in this thread. Personally I feel they are better than the Dead Boys, very good.
