I actually pity these people who feel the need to make a big deal about themselves because they abstain from having sex.

Imagine you spend years of your life being preachy & feeling self righteous over not doing it, saying you want the first time to be really meaningful & special.

Then you meet 'the one' and then after 5 minutes of sweating, grunting, embarrassment , awkwardness & discomfort you get the feeling of crushing disappointment that you've wasted your life taking the moral high ground over something so trivial & meaningless.

That has to suck.

Yes. Exactly. Sex is fun and great but it's not some kind of earthshaking experience, and if you build it up to be more than it is you will be both disappointed and likely under too much pressure to be able to enjoy it.

At the moment virginity feels like a horrendous burden, rather than something i want to keep hold of any longer!

Yeah, I think we've all felt that. But once you get used to the world of being sexually active, sometimes you might actually miss that yearning. Not to mention, the first time you have sex out of habit, you might feel really stupid.

It's a movement because they want to get their message across. It's not a social club, it's a message. And my "posers" comment was referring to those who already live a clean lifestyle but don't know the first thing about the music involved, if they claim to be straight edge than they are, indeed, posers.

Once again this isn't about obstaining from sex. There is no "code" that says anyone who is a part of this movement has to be a virgin. It is for the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases. If you are having sex with prostitutes, skanks or somebody who you just met at a show than (although the likelyhood of this is up to debate) it is very possible to contract a sexually transmitted disease.

From my experience with these people, the real straight edgers don't take some sort of "moral highground" on the matter.

Perhaps, i don't feel patheric about having not lost it or anything i just feel like its something i want to get over and done with rather than something special i want to preserve.

Yeah, I'm just saying that there's no need to rush it. Most likely, it'll happen before you know it, and then all that will be left to say is, "Oh, so that's what its like."

Speaking of Straight Edge, I was out at my grandma's yesterday, and walking over to this house my grandpa's been workin on my mom found this wristband that had an x over a silver circle, and on the x's it said "hardcore" and "straight edge". She asked me if it was mine, and I was like "fuck you".
