I love AFI and I dont think in anyway they are sellouts. Everyone is so concerned as to what bands sellout and don't care about the music anymore rather the "Punk" image. They have been around for a long time and they have paid their dues. They started out small and toured in a crappy van for a long time. Dexter Holland suggested that they sign to Dreamworks because he felt that they could do better things with more money and a better studio so they followed his advice. After all he is the man who signed them and the man who was responsible for getting their music out and letting them do what they love and play music for people.

afi are sellouts

Well, there are so many punk bands that sold out. Don't just pick on AFI.

for the last time, how did they sell out? yes they switched record labels in order to make more money, get more publicity, and on the whole be more successful. Given the choice, can you honestly tell me that you wouldn't do the exact same thing. Damn, if switching record labels because it can make you more money and exposure is considered selling out, I can't think of a single band that hasn't "sold out".

I was never much of an AFI fan, they hardly ever play shows over here and when they do they don't seem to realise that there's more to Britain than London, but I caught them at the Reading Festival last year, due to a combination of my feet hurting after jumping up and down to Hundred Reasons, and not wanting to see Blur on the main stage, and I was converted.

Sell outs or not (I don't care either way) they put on an incredible show. Loud, aggressive, passionate, everything I expect from a band at a gig. Hell, we pay them the money for them to entertain us, and to put some effort into it, and they put a huge amount of effort into it. So they've made some money and a comfortable life for themselves from music, call me old-fashioned but I thought that everyone formed bands because they didn't want to have a proper job.
