" punks not dead "
has anyone hear seen it i havent but i'am kind of annoyed by it if you go to the tsol web sit you will see why ( its a link on the home page ) the movie is a documentery on punk bands and it had alot of poser bands (most were good )
but still it had green day, good charolet, and blink182 and theres probally more that werent listed |
This thing is so inaccurate, punk is dead and these are the bands that killed it:
the ataris, good charlotte, green day, my chemical romance, the offspring, pennywise, rancid, simple plan, sum 41, thrice, the used, alkaline trio, yellowcard, and a few more. All of wich are on this and are classified as punk by the poseurs who made this. This is not a valid list of punk bands http://www.punksnotdeadthemovie.com/...ast_bands.html, do not buy this trash, its just another way for these bastards to make money off of this great and influential genre. |
Punks not dead and hasn't been killed you idiot its a belief and a genre of music you cant kill that unless you wipe out every band that played punk in history.
|
I was wondering when youd show up to bitch at me
|
Don't criticise me for what I am saying but Green Day, The Offspring, and Rancid to me anyways acted as a bridge to what punk really is. even if they are not punk their avalibility to the mass public has opened people's eyes to the genre. Some of those up there are just stupid though.

From that aspect its pefectly logical why the bands are there they're the gateway drug to punk and alot of people still consider them pop punk and probaly the person that made this video does. |
mosesandtherubberducky they did open it up to the mass public and thats how they killed it. Thats how it became a fashion and acted as a bridge to let all these poseurs into it. Mainstream is the complete opposite of what punk is.
And edward, you are an idiot. Tell me how the Used or Sum 41 is punk at all. |
They did open it to the mass public but punk is like dipping your french fries in sweet and sour sauce, not everyone will like its sweet tangy-ness
|
wait. I was replying to you because you said it opened it up to mass public, why did you reply to me for something I said that you said?

"I see the velvet zippies in their bondage gear, The social elite with safety-pins in their ear, I watch and understand that it don't mean a thing, The scorpions might attack, but the systems stole the sting." - Crass 1978 its been happening since the start. way before bands like sum 41 and all the others. you cant associate punk with the fashion that you can buy at any store in any mall around the world. its nothing new, listen to alot of older punk bands and in alot of their songs its brought up..Anarchy For Sale. the kids think its new, cool, and rebellious. While record companies and clothing companies see it as $$$$. |

But i do think that "true" punk bands still exist, you just have to look harder to find them. |

commercialized
they all made it commecialized..personally i liked the underground days much better than what is so called punk today,,MTV and pop radio continously play a song u may absolutely HATE at first but after lets say 20 times in one day it grows on you..its subliminal,,,this is what you should like this is what you should like this is what you should like this is what you should like this is what you should like till eventually ur wasting money on there music hitting the ticket counter for a 30-40$ ticket and spending 30-40$ on a T shirt..and what concert is complete without a few cold ones and party favors..tickets would cost what 10-15 bux tops didnt worry about crappy T shirts etc ..just whent to slam and pogo and have a blast..

ive said it before on some thread around here, if you or anybody is comparing these bands to what punk is youve got it all wrong. George Bush can get a mohawk and start screaming "im Punk Rock!!!" it doesnt mean shit. The scene is still underground. The real punk bands are still underground. 5 -15 bucks is still the price for a good show. If youre spending 40 bucks to see someone with blue hair play 3chord rock then the blindfold is on, bend over, take it like a man and dont expect the record industry to have the courtesy to give you a reach around. |

punk was the 80s !!!!man if your statements true then only my herion addict buddy who drinks all day and lives in the gutter is the only punk around and punk is a fashion statement thats why alot of punks are wearing leathers in the 100 degree heat and puttin all kinds of patches and studs over there clothes thats part of it like these kids now adys who put the metal part of there lighter on everything yeah safty pins punk started in the gutter and belongs to stay there |
I agree with you sir...But also punk is believing, They live the gutter, they knew it and it shows but now it's not so because kids these days are better off, They dress hard but they're soft...Not like you MB's eh..Now punk doesn't really exist except the ones mentioned which are a hell of a lot but what I'm trying to say is there are no new ones coming up or being noticed
|
well there is in the crusty scene
more and more everyday |

http://www.punksnotdeadthemovie.com/...ast_bands.html-went to the site good link to find new music..... |
Who is making it commercialized? The industry paints a cat and tries to sell it as a lion. It was never about fashion or the way you looked, anybody that says it is, is still wet behind the ears, or too busy trying to decide which color plaid goes best with their new bondage belt to stop and pay attention.

Some of you kids take this sh*t way too seriously. The time you spend coming up with cliche internet punk definitions, you can be filling out a job application.
