I completely agree with you. Pop-punk at best. Y'know, I like the Ramones now and then... I own the anthology. But I think if I listened to them as often as I did Pistols, that I'd have to blow my brains out from that over-synth'd sound. I'm going to make a bold statement here and say, back in their day, that was pop-punk - but would it be going too far to say that the Ramones back in the day were equivalent to pop-punk today? Now I think Fall Out Boy sucks, but if you put in some margin of error and compare the time periods... opinions?

they are both great and both did wonderful things for punk music. the sex pistols were obviously edgier but the ramones have the better music hands down.

the sex pistols were, also, only together for two years and put out one studio album.

the ramones are pure classic, revolutionary punk who's catalogue outmatches the sex pistols completely.

nevermind the bollocks is one of the best punk albums ever made but to say that the sex pistols are the better band is just crazy talk.

I would go for Ramones. quote, "They performed 2,263 concerts, touring virtually nonstop for 22 years." and released over 10 albums. I fully respect the Sex Pistols cause they produced arguably the most 'in your face' commercial album ever. + JOhn Lydon did some brilliant stuff after SP
