Conflict or Crass?
Well I've been having this debate alot lately?
Conflict and Crass, basically the same message. Although. Conflict, lyrics are more aggresive and seem to get what they want done through violence. and Crass, which has been called the hippies of punk by many, lyrics have more of a hold up a sign and protest way of getting the message across. I've kept my mouth shut on this debate and these ideas arent mine, they are of friends, but anyway I have decided to keep my mouth shut till I'm convince on one band thouroughly. Anyway who'm do you prefer and who'm gets the message across better, Conflict or Crass? |
Crass bitch, Conflict isn't even in my top ten.

First off, dont call me a bitch, second off you didn't even answer my full question. |
Crass is on my top ten above Conflict at number 2. Crass is a lot easier to listen to than Conflict most of the time and they were the original anarchist band who started it because they hated bands like the Clash and Sex Pistols who werent acting what they were preaching. Conflict has stayed together long after Crass though. Its hard to choose between them but I'll always choose Crass over any other anarcho-punk.

Crass's lyrics are more disginishable the message gets over better, though half the there message was just stupid. Plus I heard crass first and they got me into conflict.

Crass
|
Neither.
I hope that answers your questions. |

I answered both of your questions. |
Anyways...Conflict song, this is alf, was banned in the UK because people actually took note of what was said and influenced alot of activists
|
They pretty much do send out the same message, but it seems that Crass has over ruled Conflict, in many ways too.....
|
They both suck, no offense.
But seriously, they both suck. |

Crass was more controvercial because of the time period, when conflict started with the same message it was already everywhere so they didnt noticed as easily. Theyre discography is pretty good, but their songs kinda sound the same after awhile, whereas Crass were able to do what they do in differant styles. Listen to Feeding of the 5000 and then listen to Ten notes on a summers day, it hardly sounds like the same band if you didnt know any better.

Well Mr. Fenix.....that sure as hell answers everyone's questions in this thread. Thank ya.
Oh, and well said too. |
14-1

Conflict are good but nowhere as good as Crass. Flux Of Pink Indians, Subhumans, The Ex and Rudimentary Peni are all better than Conflict too.
|
i find it interesting that in the first post....which was over five years ago.....s/he basically states that Conflict has the same ideals but promotes violence....which i really don't see
i mean Conflict is defiantly more along the lines of "hardcore punk" whereas Crass was much more noisy and experimental...probably because they were all so drunk and really had no clue what they were doing....but it worked obviously....but i don't see Conflict really promoting violence per say....just a continuation of the anger i was able to see Conflict a few years back when they reformed and toured the States....they were great very positive and did The Ungovernable Force in its entirety as well as another full set and still only charge $10 and personally i'd take Rudimentary Peni and Subhumans over all of these bands :) |
Crass 4 evs
|
I'll take Conflict over Crass.
|
Crass were a product of their time and I think that their ideals far out weighted their musical ideals. The music was always secondary to them, even though their ideals were fully realised.
Conflict are one of the few bands that have stuck to their original ideals, despite being forged well over 20 years ago. Crass are the band we should all aspire too but Conflict are the band still out there doing it without compromise. Conflict for me. |
Crass aren't just accussed of being Hippies; Penny freely admits to it. Accept it as a fact that the primary purpose of Crass was to spread hippie politics. Music and all else was secondary to this.
And, in regards to what they were advocating; talk about a failure. Whether it be the idiocy of their anti-Capitalist rhetoric, the endless screetching about an impending environmental disaster of monolith proportions, etc. ...and yet, despite this, they're thought of as a good band. |

don't think he meant to insult

I Like both bands. I would lean towards Conflict having seen both live as Conflict shows are Other worldly. Saw a guy jump off their amp stack and compound fracture his leg what could be better.
|
whos better none of them. I used to like crass, but steve ignorant, and penny rhimbaud sold out, and now the crassical project costs much more than their motto of no more than $2.00, and conflict is pro-life, so I dont like either of them now.
crass is better though |
