im pretty sure most knew who green day were before american idiot, their one of the highest profile bands of the last 10-15 years.

Theres a lot of people that will not agree with that. Im not one of them obviously. People like Rachael Woods though Stu (these people might know her?....) had no attention towards them until it became "cool" to like them *steam comes out of ears*
