o-k wow, well anyways, I think Green Day has some of the better melodies ever. I remember hearing someone say "what are the quitessential records of the 90's? Nevermind and Dookie" (She was obviously American) and I thought, well Cobain made nice melodies, but Billie Joe has some amazing ones. You can hum their songs and if you've heard them once, you know what someone is singing.

To me, a great vocal melody can really save a song.

Interesting, for me it's the exact opposite.

I took your comment as seriously as I took Shadowotsisname, who got himself slighty giddy for a while back there.

Meaning that you think Billie Joe at least makes some nice ones? Or that you hate them both as melody makers?

Billie Joe seems to have folk oriented melodies where as Cobain seemed to beatles influenced and has more of a pop sensibility.

In his biography it said that Cobain was obsessed with the Beatles, and looking at his music you can really see where the influence came from. Sorry, I like to have random outbursts about Nirvana.

Im a huge Nirvana fan, and i know most Nirvana melodies by heart, and though i like some Green Day, they never made the same connection with me that Nirvana did, melodically or lyrically.

but you think his melodies are better? I think greenday has far more melody in its music than nirvana does. Very Ape and Territorial Pissings could use some more.
