Thats because Kerrang SUCKS at everything theyve ever done.

These are just some of their "awards ceremony"'s results that really annoyed me:

BEST SINGLE -Foo Fighters 'Best Of You'
Now dont get me wrong, Best Of You is a good song, but Best Single?? Uh, no.

BEST ALBUM - My Chemical Romance 'Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge'
This was the best album of 2005?! Hmmm, way to ignore pretty much every other release made..

BEST LIVE BAND - Green Day
PAH. Well, its hardly a difficult task to perform their songs live, is it... Hell, learn to play just four different chords, and you're away.

BEST BAND ON THE PLANET - Green Day
...This needs no comment.

ICON AWARD - Marilyn Manson
Uh huh.. Here's the lesson, kids: Pay almost all the money youve got into looking completely retarded, then use the rest of your money on paying for a band that will play as long as YOU get all the credit. You'll be famous beyond your wildest dreams... Every child in the playground will be wearing a shirt with your face on the front

i think Green Day have become too commercial.

punk is supposed to be anti commercial etc...

^ Man... Don't bring genre up. Does it really matter what genre a band is? Its just a label.

Well, it does in the cases of punk and emo more than others. I'd take a guess at it being because theres such a scene with those genres, a lotta the fans get pretty edgy about it.

Which makes it even more stupid. It seems to me like scenes just propogate elitism and closemindedness. I think if scensters don't like a particular band, they just toss it into the dreaded 'pop' catagory to try to get rid of it. These are just outside observations though, so its very likely they could be wrong.

I wouldnt say you were wrong in the least.. Still, theres nowt anyone can do about it. Theres bound to be elitism everywhere you go. Just another character flaw really, just enforced by genres and scenes I guess.

i hate Green Day. no offense. i had more respect for them 5, 6 years ago when they just ran around like six graders talking about sniffing glue instead of what they sing about now which happens to be what everyone else is singing about, depression, and how pathetic their lives are.
not my kind of music.
if i can give them anything its that their lyrics are well developed.
i just hate his voice! and if i hear that Boulevard of Broken Dreams song or however it goes, one more time i am going to lose it!!!!!!!

peace,
