I recently had a choice between playing guitar and playing guitar hero. I picked the guitar because if I got good enough I could write my own music, i could be wrong but GH doesn't allow you yo do that.
Oh, the first song I am going to learn will probably be Good Riddance because it seems like an easier one to master. I have only had my guitar 4 months, so easy is good right now. |

But yeah Time Of Your life is a great one to learn. Good choice. My first songs were About A Girl, Smells Like Teen Spirit, Wonderwall and Time Of Your Life. |

Hey lay off the noob I am teaching my self how to play. I have a book with nine cords and the rest I have to do from watching youtube clips. So don't make the new guy cry into the fruity pebbles. lol Yeah I heard about Wonderwall being pretty easy also; I'll give it a try.

Kerplunk! is actually my favorite album by them. Well other then American Idiot...
Honestly, I only think Green Day had two 'bad' albums: Insomniac, and 21st Century Breakdown. I also think they've only had one amazing album: American Idiot. I still listen to their older material (Kerplunk, Dookie, Nimrod) everyone once in awhile when I'm in a good mood, but for the most part I've found they're just good, not great. |

"good, not great"
never a truer word. I like them but they're nothing spectacular.

One of the radio promos here is ADD weekend where the station plays a song and then you can text in to suggest another from the same band. Some brilliant **** had the good foresight to see the stations 21 guns and raise it with a J.A.R. Green Day to me has been the best when they play to the material and not the melody.
I'll admit they shouldn't be penalized for this, Billie Joe has been one of the best melody makers we've had in quite a time. Their recently offerings have been terribad at best, but songs like J.A.R., She, Welcome to Paradise, and Longview are phenominal. There have been a few of these bands, this hedged-punk movement who've grown up fairly well. They got into someone who was into the message, your singer/songwriters and they wrote about real things. Oddly enough, greenday has always hedged that methodology and its giving us spotty music. Don't take this as me hating melody, I think when they play Hitchin' a Ride, American Idiot, or Minority its ****ing good, but I wish they'd play more songs where the lyrics were a little more focused, a little more personal. If I wanted to listen to good-time platitiudes and sing-song melodies I'd throw on some Beatles.
