very few bands can lay claim to as many innovations as KISS.
Neil Bogart, KISSes label chief, was a genius. KISS and Bogart over turned the record industry.
The RIAA actually changed the rule sof the industry due to them.

1971 - Killer album , came with a full size poster / calendar of Alice with a snake.
1972 - Schools Out Album , came with an album sleeve that opened up like a school desk , the album sleeve itself was a pair of paper knickers.
1973 - Billion Dollar Babies - Came as a giant leather wallet with fold out dollar bills.

Any examples of Kiss doing it sooner than those dates?

I wanted to tear my teeth out. I didn't know what I wanted to do. And I want to remember it. I never want to forget it. I never want to forget. And then I realized... like I was shot... like I was shot with a diamond... a diamond bullet right through my forehead. And I thought: My God... the genius of that.
