I thoroughly enjoy Trout Mask Replica, and all of Captain Beefhearts music, no idea why it just has a massive appeal for me

Frankly your harrassing, know it all attitude is pretty grating, especially considering you get pissy whenever you're called out and are so obviously wrong. People wouldn't be so abrasive towards you if you just went "Ok, well you're a ***" instead of going "waaaaa if you weren't making a valid point I'd give you an infraction"

I have no problems with your taste, in fact your tastes are probably more similar to mine to anyone else here. I'm just annoyed by your attitude.
And I don't get angry when people correct me, I get angry when people insult me instead of correcting me. I openly admit to making mistakes, and all you have to do to get me to admit to them is to point them out. But you've insulted me for my subjective opinions more than a few times. Either way, thats all I had to say, lets not argue. I already know you don't like me, I just want it to be known that I'm not a fan of you either and that as long as we're in close proximity we probably need to find a way to tolerate each other. And I'm trying really hard. I'm fair enough to admit that you haven't done anything to warrant a ban, a warning or even an infraction. I'm just asking that you tone down your provocative behavior just a bit, I'm only asking, I'm not demanding it. |

I still love all the singles, but also the deeper tracks. Waiting for the Worms is awesome. Overall it's probably my 5th favorite Floyd album after DSOTM, WYWH, Meddle and Obscured. |

I can easily understand how people don't like the album, there are a lot of "ugly sounds" on it. The Wall without the story it tells and just as a collection of songs fails (imo), so you need that story-perspective in order to enjoy it I think.

If you're gonna hate on the album for being depressing, that's fine, but if I catch you raving about how "hauntingly beautiful" Joy Division's Closer is. I'll be calling bullsh*t.
I understand that there's other reasons, but that one never made sense to me. It's a good reason to not like it, it's NOT however a good reason to call it a horrible album and one of the worst things the band has ever done. If you're the kind of person who hates The Wall but likes Ummagumma, I just plan won't ever understand you. |

Reminds me of all the people I run into that only respect Syd era Pink Floyd.

They claim that after that there was no creative power, just the same old stuff. I dont even disagree with them, because they obviously are not worth debating. Either that or have never picked up an instrument and have no idea what talent is.

No, it's that they turned into a prog band, with a more polished sound, lyrics that actually had some kind of comprehensable meaning and a guitarist whose idea of a solo wasn't just making weird noises at random. I still like Syd era Floyd. But Piper is only like..... my 8th favorite Floyd album. |

Ah but you are not understanding the people I am talking about. The kind of music fan who can listen to 2/10 albums by a band and already know what the other 8 sound like. Basically just blind elitism. As to what most people think, yes your correct, rehearsed solo's and slid song structure is not some peoples cup of tea.
