I am not usually one to spend big money on constant reissues of albums but when it comes to the Floyd then it's a different matter because they have a lot of material that has never been released (apart from bootlegs) as they are not a band to generally rip fans off BUT next week sees a mammoth 6 disc set of Dark Side Of The Moon released with lots of exclusive booty too.
Retailing at a cool £90 is extravagant but I just HAVE to get this damn beauty: Why Pink Floyd?, Pink Floyd & EMI 2011 remastered campaign Click on Immersion.

I was surprised the live album version of Dark Side of the moon is avialable to buy as ind. tracks from itunes store so I don't have to buy the remastred album which i'm not bothred about and can just download the live album for £10.Actually I've been a bit rash...not for the first time in my life and just notice it's only £13 for the whole job lot so might as well have got the whole job lot. It gave me the option to buy the rest of the album inc. the album only tracks for another £4 I'll buy it but i'm over the moon, no pun intntend with the live tracks...an 8 mins jam version of Any Colur you like!!! I got the remastered full album and some bonus tracks and some stupid documentary for £3.09!!

Tribute bands? fuck off. I can think of nothing worse. Some pub band trading off a band that no longer tours and giving us inferior versions of tracks that we all know and love and charging $35+ for the privilege but then I came across these:
Brit Floyd | The Pink Floyd Tribute Show Considering they (original band) will probably never reform for a few gigs (although there is a rumour that they might do a few shows and dedicate all profits to charity) and if they did then tickets would probably start at $200 a piece what else can you do? However if you devour the live experience of bands then the whole set up, professionalism and musicianship of this band is something to take note of. My good friend attended a gig last night and was fully determined to come out after the gig and complain like the bald approaching 40 year old man that he is but he didn't. In fact he was blown away. I will not accept a tribute band to replace the original at all and find the whole concept too twisted to fully enjoy but watch this video and its not just a cheap gimmick:

That would be a great show to go to, they nailed it pretty much flawlessly. I wouldn't go to a tribute performance of Floyd unless it sounds like the video jackhammer posted, or a Laser Light Show that they commonly do here.
However, Roger Waters is doing another set of U.S tours, and most likely worldwide, of his The Wall tour, which is supposed to be huge. I'm starting to save money to get to the show, no matter where it is. |

That would be awesome, but the Immersion version of Animals is basically on the Wish You Were Here Immersion, half of Animals played live at Wembley already, so I wouldn't count on it. Meddle would be fantastic, but who knows what material they have hiding.
Can't wait for The Wall Immersion, hopefully the best is last, but WWYH was already ****ing sweet! |
