^ Awesome! High 5!
Gilmour is not happy with your statement! While I agree that Waters' bitterness is what brought depth and meaning to albums like Animals, The Wall, DSOTM and so on, Gilmour's dreamlike soundscapes should not be forgotten. It brought balance and made them truly great! Too much of Gilmour would have been too boring and too much Waters would have been way too depressing. That is why I'm not crazy about Final Cut (though I do like it in parts). The balance is what made them legends. That's what I think anyway. |

When I want to listen to Pink Floyd, which is pretty much all the time, I want to listen to the 1968-1972 period, especially live.
Their music was at it's peak of perfection during that time period and pretty much beyond words. |

I like my Floyd bootlegs pre Dark Side but after that I start thinking it must have been a good thing that had gigantic stage sets to distract the fans because the vocals sound pretty crappy.

Another highly underrated album by these guys is Meddle. Just an amazing album to listen to. I think of it as an extension of Dark Side of The Moon. Echoes in my opinion is one of their best songs, it's such a mind trip. There is just so much going on in this album if you empty your mind and listen to it.

Oh how woefully ignorant I have been. Piper at the gates of dawn is quite a interesting listen, coming from a fan of their 70's sound. Really captures the feel of 1960's Britain, which I like. I kind of wonder what it would have been like to watch pink floyd progress musically if I was living back then, kind of makes me realize just how much of a mind blow Dark Side of The Moon was I suppose.
Not that I am saying Dark Side isn't good, just I think some of the WHOA factor is missing now a days. The album is still a good listen though. |

On a PF website there's someone with over 9,000 posts who rates PF albums thus-
Piper at the gates of dawn : 7 Saucerful of secretes : 6 More : 5 Ummagumma : 7 Atom heart mother : 3 Meddle : 5 Obscured by clouds: 3 Darkside of the moon : 6 Wish you were here : 1 Animals : 4 The Wall : 6 The final cut : 6 A momentary lapse of reason : 0 Division Bell : 4 I'd hate to see what he thinks of albums by bands he's not a fan of!!!
