I have to say I've never understood why Wish You Were Here gets put in the "masterpiece" category so often. It's not a horrible album but I do think it has some major flaws. Definitely not one of my favorites by them.

Normally I'd agree with you, every time I listen to it I notice the big flaws, but also every time I listen to it I get this warm fuzzy feeling. And I feel great, the album just really appeals to me, and I'm sure that's what a masterpiece should do.

yeah I totally agree...WYWH is so great cause (for me), cause I like it without even trying to like it...if you get what I mean... it just makes me feel great even though it's supposed to be a depressing album, and what's better then that

I think I have said this on this thread already but I love The Wall. A brilliant record, in fact a masterpiece IMO.
Waters took over!? I am not sure that I care. It was dark and morose. Again I don't care. I have no problem including it in with Pipers, DSOTM, Wish You Were Here and Animals as outstanding recordings.

Waters took over almost completely from '73-'82. i don't have any problem with most of it, the only glaring exceptions being the second halves of both sides of the Wall. and the Final Cut, but i won't blame that on Waters; the eighties killed prog.

As for The Wall, the only side I consider to be weak is the first half of disc 2, Hey You and Comfortably Numb notwithstanding. |
