Yeah, it's one of the few Floyd albums I refuse to own. The reason why Roger Waters is fucked in the head should really only be a concern to Roger Waters IMO.

It's like the lamb lies down on broadway, so overtly attemtping to be progressive, trying so hard to be new and edgy and failing so spectacularly that it becomes unlistenable.

Nope, the Wall will forever be one of the greatest. My only problem with it is that its 2 dics!

SATCHMO 04-30-2009 03:04 PM

Don't get me wrong. I believe The Wall is a monumental album. It just depresses the shit out of me.

I've always been mystified how the Wall illicits such harsh reactions from what you'd otherwise consider fans of the band.

I like the album a lot, I don't think it's there best or even in my personal top three and maybe the fact that it's often one of their highest regarded and most acclaimed albums by the popular majority that irks the fans.

The Wall features several classic tracks and holds up stronger on singles then DSOTM. It has a nice flow from start to finish and there is no song that's completely unlistenable even all these years later.

A lot of biased commentary there surely, but I don't think I'd struggle to find a heap of folks who'd share that sentiment largely.

See I'm a big Pink Floyd fan, and I like everything apart from the Wall, it's just due to the fact I can't enjoy it. I absolutely love DSOTM and I always feel that it's more highly regarded than the wall by most.

I agree with you JJJ. On the whole, The Wall is a bit drab and depressing, but it was my first rock album and I've spent hours and hours listening to it. It has plenty of good songs and while I can agree that it's not their best by far, I also think it's weird how much dislike there seems to be against it.

edit :

I agree with Comus in that DSOTM seems to be the one most popularly regarded as the ultimate Pink Floyd album.

Yeah, I don't get it either. Personally I think it's one of their best albums.

By the way, nice to see you posting again man. :)

I would agree, but I think the Wall is #2 as far as popular opinion.

Well first off, you like Trout Mask Replica.

And second, while you are not a troll. I need to remind myself to try and avoid you as much as possible.

It's a combination of your lazy, narrow and biased arguments, your lame puns and the smirking expression in your avatar which haunts me everytime we have a discussion.

You come off to me as an elitist music nerd, and considering that last picture you used for your avatar, that's not far off. Your collection is probably 3 times larger than mine, but please. Lets try and be on the same plan, we can have a decent discussion without you having to be so darn snobby about it can't we?
