I actually like the title track from AHM, If and Fat Old Sun are nice songs, Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast is filler but I do like when the accoustic guitar comes in, Summer 68 is blah.

More is hit and miss, The Nile Song and Green is the Colour are standouts.

I totally agree that More is really uneven, but it's still one of my favorite Pink Floyd albums. There's just something about it.

i don't understand why Obscured by Clouds doesn't get more love. it's on par with everything else they did from '71-'77.

I disagree, that's why I personally don't give it more love. :p:

It does have its moments though, I'll give it that. I love "Wot's... Uh the Deal" and "Free Four".

I find it weird that I'm a huge Floyd fan and I've never posted in this thread. They are the biggest reason for me being involved with music, and me taking the musical path I now have. Gilmour is the reason I play guitar; he's far and away my biggest guitar influence. They really changed my life. When I first started getting involved with the Floyd, I honestly didn't listen to anything else for 6 or 7 straight months. I'd just choose a different album to listen to, and since I had so many, I would never get bored.

I fully agree about that; that really drew me in and helped me appreciate the albums as a piece of art on the whole. It's almost as if the albums are just single pieces of music with an incredible number of movements in some sense. It also helped that each album seemed to have a definitive feel to it, and each was different. Though albums like Dark Side and Wish You Were Here are obviously very Floyd, they each have strikingly different moods and atmospheres, which usually carried throughout each individual album.

Saucerful is fantastic of course as well.

I agree. It reminds me a lot of how classical music is structured. I rather love musicians that have a knack for producing albums like this. I enjoy a variety of songs per album, but you can have variety with good, smooth transitions, too.

So, I just got a record player for my birthday, and I played all The Pink Floyd albums I could find in the house: Animals, Meddle and of course, Darkside. It's amazing how much more natural their music sounds coming from a record. I LOVE IT!

Oh I'm so jealous, I've always wanted a record player they're so retro! I would love to get some old Bruce Springsteen, Rolling Stones and The Who playing. I also really would love to get some old Jazz records too, I have this wonderful image of Mr Big from Sex in the City playing it to Carrie. :)

you'd sully a damn good phonograph playing Springsteen on it. :(

i think (at least in my case, American) people have this obsession with playing and listening to jazz, like it's some sort of holy grail of music, as if to say, "look, i'm eclectic! watch me being eclectic, everybody!" i try to distance myself from that stereotype, because to me, it's nothing more than a fanciful way of getting people to recognize just exactly how far your head is up your arse.

My dad has had a lot of influence on my music tastes you see. I just really enjoy jazz, and the thought of playing it on a record player is more romantic and vintage. I think I was a flapper in another life. I didn't realise American's have a think for like Jazz to be eclectic?

I have vinyl records but not a record player.

They were given to me by my brother.

It's mosty 80s arena rock. Journey, Foreigner, 38 Speicial, Night Ranger, REO Speedwagon, Styx, Asia, etc. If my dad has a record player I might give them to him, he loves that kinda stuff.

I also have Soldiers of Fortune by Blue Oyster Cult on vinyl, that one I actually want to play. :(
