Anyway, the water's era music is pompous, pretencious, and least idealogically focussed of all of pink floyd's discography. Sure, they have the most grandiouse "concepts" and "themes" but they also miss the point they are trying to make by the widest margins. The albums look totally inward and make no conclusions. Self pity is not a world changing revalation. "The Division Bell" isn't great, but at least it's honest and looks at the world outside of itself.

If my opinion is different than yours I guess that automatically makes me a troll, huh?
Pretentious troll is pretentious.

Because you never make brief snide remarks. EVER.

But seriously are you f*cking kidding me? Like I even have to explain why its pretentious?

Just f*cking look at it.

What you're doing is not positive imput, you came here to a thread for Pink Floyd fans asking for a fight by saying Pink Floyd are the most overrated band ever and that Waters sucks. Seriously I don't even know how its f*cking possible for someone to like MLOR but call WYWH a bad album. I wouldn't mind if you just expressed your opinion and leaved, but you actually tried to justify it, and that was a very bad mistake.

If you're going to make a post of psuedo intellectual BS straight out of the music critics handbook at least know how to spell pretentious.

This is just HILLARIOUS.

HOW? Are you kidding me? Whats Piper about because no one has ever tried to explain that to me. Maybe because its just the random rantings of a dopehead?

Seriously, if Pink Floyd lacks idealogical focus then I would like to know who in the f*ck actually has it. The themes behind DSOTM, WYWH, Animals and The Wall were pretty clear, I dont care if you don't like those albums but when you're saying they lack focus you're just pulling sh*t out of your ass.

Seriously, if Waters had no focus than what the f*ck was Syd? A man who wrote stuff like this.

I've got a bike
You can ride it if you like
It's got a basket
A bell that rings
And things to make it look good
I'd give it to you if I could
But I borrowed it

Wow, brilliant.

The way you quoted those suggest to me that you must be so stupid that you can't even grasp on to the meaning of Waters' work.

but they also miss the point they are trying to make by the widest margins.
And this you haven't even tried to explain.

How did they miss the point? HOW? I'd say Waters lyrics are pretty f*cking straightforward (a lot more than Syds) to anyone that actually pays attention, seriously, how did DSOTM miss the mark? Explain that to me, I bet this will be hillarious.

Yes, stop. STOP RIGHT THERE.

You're making no sense now, but I take it what you meant by that is that it looks at things on a personal level. Somehow this is bad right?

Makes no conclusions?

You don't even know what you're talking about.

And Syd? What was he? The way you're making it out, compared to Waters he was some brilliant social commentator. Hmm....

I want to tell you a story
about a little man if I can.
A gnome named Grimble Crumble.
And little gnomes stay in their homes,
eating, sleeping, drinking their wine.

Who can argue with that?

Quote:
Self pity is not a world changing revalation.
Its also not a reason Waters era Floyd is "not good".

Quote:
"The Division Bell" isn't great, but at least it's honest and looks at the world outside of itself.
So you actually prefer lyrics that try to throw in a lot of philosophical stuff about the world without any real personal conviction (Gilmour) to lyrics that handle subject matter in a very raw and personal way? (Waters)

You must be a metalhead.

No, what makes you a troll is coming to a Pink Floyd thread to say they suck and supporting it by throwing together a bunch of random big words in hopes of confusing us stupid primitive Waters fans. Also you have a username that only supports my accessment.

Wow, brilliant.
He was a man tripping his tits off on acid.

And no matter how 'bad' those lyrics are i'd still rather listen to them than Roger Waters droning on and on about his middle class upbringing.

I didn't think it was worth the effort. Your posts were pretty laughable.

Instead of trying to nit pick holes in other peoples opinions lets see some of yours for a change , or don't you have anything worthwhile to say on the subject?

Pink Floyd: Overrated, yes, but Wish You Were Here is a great album, the Division Bell is not. Animals disproves your point about Waters being self-obsessed.

Why not?
Because it's bland Stadium Rock with annoyingly grandiose themes.

My point? I never said he was.
I wasn't arguing with you.
