The most pronounced "quantum jump" would be where the band completely changes its style - not just quality - for the worse. (But I'm not restricting : even without putting on any restrictions ,over 150 peeps have looked into this thread but only one has responded. That tells one two things: what sort of forum this is and proof that collectors of gear are just that - collectors of gear AND NOT MUSIC.)
There are countless examples of NON "OBSCURE" bands making a big change, yet no one has brought them up. Would you think Uriah Heep obscure? I think not: Take the "Firefly" lp. Previous to this they released 3 poop-out-of-ass lps in a row. Then vocalist (Byron??) was replaced with complete different-sound vocalist, Lawton. Also Uriah became much SOFTER. All the same, it is a good lp. So here you have change in sound that resulted in a better lp - at least compared to the previous three. This does not happen all that often. Usually its always for the worse. |
