I'd like to nominate Warrior on the Edge of Time, that one always gets overlooked.
Hawkwind are a hard band to pigeonhole, some call them prog, some call them rock n roll (how about prog n roll?) but that really depends on the album, they evolved a bit throughout the years. They started out as just a hard rock band more than anything, but starting with Mountain Grill they became the defining space rock band. I think one of the reasons Lemmy left was that he didn't like the prog direction they were taking. Well that and he was a speed junkie that became such a liability for the band that they decided to just dump him in the state of Michigan somewhere. |

I like all Hawkwind albums. I can find good in some of their dodgier albums Space Bandits etc. Warrior is a great album but so is Quark. Just get them all Rezz!

Alrite, I've just downloaded about 4 of their albums, 'In Search Of Space' (1971), 'Doremi Fasol Latido' (1972), 'Hail Of The Mountain Grill' (1974), 'Warrior On The Edge Of Time' (1975).
Plus Lemmy is a legend, ever heard him doing a cover of Cinnamon Girl; I have this best of album which came with a bonus disc of called 'The Muggers Tapes' (This was the band Lemmy used to be in early on) and they do a cover of the aforementioned Neil Young song which is surprisingly good and weird at the same time. |

Their first album is closer to folk music than anything.

F*ck, I keep forgetting that In Search of Space is NOT their first album.

I have done that in the past, getting an artists entire discography at once. It never seems to work because when there is SO much (Buckethead for example) I tend to overlook a lot. If I listen to them one at a time I appreciate them much more.

I found a torrent of all their albums from 1970-1985 including compilations, about 30 in total.
Was so badly seeded it took me 4 months to download it.
