Personally I prefer Black Sabbath but I do think that Hawkwind were a lot more creative and innovative than Sabbath. Both bands are incredible.

I wouldn't go that far. Black Sabbath did more to define a brand new genre of music.

But yeah, Hawkwind are certainly underrated as far as their influence goes, they have a lot of influence on prog, metal and punk bands alike.

Thats true Sabbath basically invented Heavy Metal in 1970. Im not putting down their influence. What I mean is that Hawkwind have a more experimental sound to their music whereas Black Sabbath are pretty much just Heavy Metal through & through. (if you know what i mean).

Dude, in 1970 heavy metal WAS experimental.

Good point, I still find Hawkwind more interesting to listen to though.

So what kind of music genre does hawkwind fall under or what bands are they like? So far all i have heard is what they have influenced and something about spacerock. Also any links would be appreciated.

Space rock is what they are generally called.

They're a mix of psychedelic prog and hard rock. They're a very special band in that they have a lot of influence on prog, punk and metal.

Not a lot of bands can lay claim to influencing bands as diverse as The Sex Pistols, Metalica, Kyuss, Porcupine Tree and Ozric Tentacles.

Sounds pretty sweet I'll check them out, also that chick in the band does have enormous breasts :)
