Not familiar with this Jakko dude. I see that he was in a Crimson sorta tribute band though - does he sound like Wetton?

Does anyone know why King Crimson MP3 stuff is not available to purchase via Amazon? Is it a Fripp decision?

Yeah, he was in the 21st Century Schizoid Band and played on "A Scarcity of Miracles".
I wouldn't say he sounds like Wetton. Wetton, while not being a great singer (although still being a good one) in the technical sense, has a unique and heartfelt singing style and voice, while Jakko just sounds bland and generic.

I think Fripp wants DGMlive to be the sole distributor of Crimson mp3s.

Dumb question: Is there an unofficial King Crimson thread?

Can't figure out how to purchase the full studio albums on that site.

Has anyone been at the recent shows?
I'm curious as to what people think of the new line-up.
I haven't really heard anything yet, just some snippets. I'm not too happy about Jakko being in the band, he is a good musician, but I always found his singing really bland.
Although Belew on the other hand, despite the fact that I love him as a singer and guitarist, wouldn't really fit into the 70s sound the band seems to want to recreate or at least expand upon.
I saw the new line-up recently. The show was good but not quite what I was hoping for. Mostly on the heavier side of King Crimson, which I don't mind, but I actually found myself getting somewhat bored around halfway into it because of the way their approach to the songs sounded so similar in each number.

Are the three drummers effective or could just two (or just one Bill Bruford) be playing and nobody would notice the difference?
Also: How is Fripp's playing? He is almost 70 now after all.

Before the show I thought that having three drummers might be a bit of overkill, but they worked quite well together. I think two or just Bill Bruford would have worked just as well, though. Robert Fripp sounded fine to me. He seems to be playing as good as he always has.

I HOPE that this is not true.

I'm one of those people that likes to say, music is about the music only. I heard that Crimson King album when I was in high school (about 5 years ago...) and fell in love...

because of the pure listening enjoyment. It didn't matter to me how complicated, or simple, the arrangement really was. It was the feel.

Ironically, I also like some songs by 50 Cent. But I wouldn't think the social dichotomy between 50 Cent and Crimson King...would affect whether I enjoy listening to the song.

Any opinions on the ProjeKcts?
Recently I've been listening to them even more than to KC.
Some albums and tracks are a little unfocused/inconsistent, but I generally think of it as a great idea and great music.
