Default PRAC Discussion Thread: Shineback, "Rise up forgotten, return destroyed"

After the pressures of Metal Month II I've only had a chance to listen to this a few times, and twice I've fallen asleep --- nothing to do with the album, I was just tired: I could have fallen asleep listening to "Reign in blood"! --- but what I've heard of this I really like, and each time I hear it I like it more.

Lot of different moods and ideas on it, different vocalists too which is nice. Can't find out much if anything about the band: maybe Ant can fill us in? He says it's a concept album but I don't know about what. A lot of tracks on it (eighteen) which means each time I listen it's kind of a marathon session and it's not something you can just throw on and listen to in half an hour or anything, but definitely growing on me.

Favourite tracks so far: "Crush culture" and the title, though I'm sure there are more; they're the only ones that specifically stood out to me but I pretty much love the rest of them too, just don't actually know them enough to include them as standouts.

More later!

That album cover is interesting, will give this a listen just because of the cover.

Fusing pop, prog and electronica into a story of abuse, betrayal and madness, "Rise Up Forgotten, Return Destroyed" is the new album from Shineback, solo project from Simon Godfrey of Tinyfish. The album - with lyrics from Simon's writing partner in Tinyfish, Robert Ramsay - centres upon the story of Dora who undertakes a fantastic, yet disturbing journey into her own dream word where she encounters dark revelations about her past buried in memory.

To aid Simon in this venture, artists such as Matt Stevens (Fierce And The Dead), Dec Burke (Frost*, Brave New Sky, Darwin's Radio, Dec Burke Band), Henry Rogers (Touchstone, DeeExpus, Final Conflict), Andy Ditchfield (DeeExpus), Hywel Benett (Dec Burke Band) Paul Worwood (Tinyfish) and Danny Claire (Ion Blue, Michael Angelo) have contributed their time and talents to make this a truly genre crossing record.
As far as the 'Rise Up Forgotten, Return Destroyed" story goes - Shineback - Rise Up Forgotten, Return Destroyed - the Story

I'd just like to say that I'm still listening to and enjoying this. Gets better every time I listen to it.

Anyone else got comments about this album? It's a bit lonely in here...

*watches the tumbleweeds roll off into that great old distance as the tears flow down the ant-eating creature's elongated nozzle*
