Native Construct is a fantastic group of new progressive Bostonians. They're from Berklee College of Music. So much potential. I think they're currently looking for a drummer.

Childhood's End by Sunrise Auranaut (2013), which is really Vitaly Kiselev, a Russian, who plays everything. He cites ELP, Yes and Manfred Mann's Earth Band as his influences.

Black Noise by FM is not a discovery, but I have just learned that there is a 2013 remaster. Not to be confused with the British melodic rock group of the same name, they are a very good progressive rock band from Canada.

In Extremis by Days Between Stations
http://daysbetweenstations.com/wp-co...tremis-800.jpg Album 2013-in-extremis « In Extremis ‹ Days Between Stations This album is by a progressive rock duo, Oscar Fuentes on keyboards and guitarist Sepand Samzadehrom, from LA, and includes significant contributions from Colin Moulding (XTC), Rick Wakeman (Yes), Peter Banks (Yes/Flash) Tony Levin (King Crimson/Peter Gabriel/ABWH) and Billy Sherwood (Yes/Circa/Conspiracy). Sherwood, primarily a bassist, plays drums on the album and very good they are too. I think this is Peter Banks's last work as he sadly passed away during the recording. The artwork is by Paul Whitehead, who designed early covers for Genesis and Van Der Graaf Generator. |
You guys should check these dudes out, pretty good stuff, very groundbreaking.

I've been listening to this recently, although I have never read anything by Terry Pratchett. I once him saw Pratchett in Waterstones, just before a booksigning, and he was sitting in the corner on his own, wearing a leather bomber jacket and a cowboy hat. On his solo work, Dave Greenslade sounds like an entire orchestra and is an underrated genius. |
Supreme thread! It's just great to find out about new bands that one didn't even know that they existed. I'll get hold of my headphones and have a go at them on the spot! By the way, I've been hooked on The Aristocrats' music, which I find amazing beyond measure.
