A look back on my last.fm recent Yes related plays:

Now playing:

Jethro Tull - Songs From The Wood

Animations

Last.fm classifies them as a progressive metal / fusion band. I can definitely hear the prog, and the heavy guitar riffs to fit the definition of metal. I currently only have the Reset Your Soul album, and it's definitely got that prog influence going with it.

MYRATH

One of my all time favorite prog bands, and have been for a while. They add a bit of tunisian influence into their music which is really ****ing badass. Out of the three albums they've released, their Hope album is probably the one you want to check out first, though they are all really good.

The Desert Call album is the first one I picked up from them, specifically for this song:

Why is Ki posting vids on Milano's Prog Thread? There's something very fishy going on here.

and oh, R, I've heard Animation

i think it's alright, Jon actually sings things that make sense, but i still don't like it as much as Yes

It may surprise you, but I did know that.

I was held down at gunpoint and forced to change my name.

I was drugged, so it's all a blur.

(not really)

One of the very first Prog Metal bands Fates Warning although this is from 2004:

Cog from Australia. A trio who were damn good but sadly split:(

Subsignal from the ashes of Sieges Even (A storming German band):

Threshold. A little cheesy but decent melodies:

Sieges Even. One of Germany's best Prog bands.

^I've heard a lot of Threshold and Fates Warning. Both top bands. I'll have to check into more of the others.

This band just showed up on my Last.FM and I am really digging them from this one song alone.

Quidam

I will for sure be looking into getting some albums from these guys. Haven't looked into how many they've released or if there is anything else by these guys that's worth listening to.

A prog band I've recently got into is Gazpacho from Norway. I recently reviewed their album "Missa Atropos", and they have a new one out this year called "The march of ghosts". Haven't managed to listen to that yet. This is from the aforementioned. It's called "Splendid isolation".
