When this subject was brought up in regards to Rush's Hemispheres, my thought was ... well, they certainly wouldn't have gotten away with it if the naked guy was facing the camera as opposed to away from it. You can show ass and get away with it much easier than you can get away with showing vag/dong.
There is symbolism involved. One aspect is it represents our natural state, without all the trappings of fashion, etc. |
