I`ve never seen this band mentioned on this forum but for anybody that doesn`t know them, they were one of the early pioneers of the San Francisco psychedelic movement in the 60s and were fronted up by "Country Joe" McDonald and Barry "The Fish" Melton. Their first two albums
Electric Music for the Mind and Body and
I-Feel-Like-I`m-Fixin-to-Die still blow me away and they usually make any essential psychedelic 60s list. But these albums are more than just psychedelic albums with their huge amount of eclectic sounds and impressive atmospherics and can really evoke feelings. The group also appeared in the legendary Woodstock festival, but are probably best remembered as being a Vietnam War protest band. It would be interesting to see, what some of the older American members of this forum think about this band.
