Ihsahn: Progressive/Black Metal
 

I was first exposed to this band by the recommendations from my last.FM. I'm not the biggest fan of black metal, though I have given and enjoyed quite a few bands from the genre, it's not something I will listen on a day to day basis. However, as this band was playing, I was ultimately surprised that they are indeed a black metal band combined with a bit of prog, and I enjoy quite a bit of prog. So, these guys have fallen into my "a band I can listen to if I need something different to listen to" category, so to speak.

Ihsahn is a legend, simple as that really. His work in Emperor was quality, and this stuff is above the level of 90% (made up stat alert) of all Black Metal bands out there right now.
